Happiness.

On Friday the 7th, I was walking to my Spanish class, and all of a sudden a storm started. I tried to run for a few blocks, but after some time I was completely wet (I mean COMPLETELY - to the point of losing the personal notes I was carrying inside my pocket), my shoes were full of water, I was slipping on the floor as I ran, I couldn't see properly because of the amount of water going inside my eyes, plus the strong wind was making things harder. So I had to enter a shop at some point and just watch the street and the sidewalk disappear under water, cars get stuck in the flood, and a dog swim by the shop (lol!). I had to phone home and ask for a ride back home.

Yesterday I had to pay something, and then (guess what) go to my Spanish class. I was gonna meet my friend Luiz first, and we'd go together. The rain was cold, but very thin and pretty much harmless, but still, he showed up with an umbrella. I told him a few times to put that crap away (I HATE umbrellas, I've always seen them as nothing but something extra to worry about during a storm), but he insisted in carrying it. Then, all of a sudden, his umbrella broke. Literally. While I was talking to the lady and giving her the money, Luiz was playing with the pieces from his umbrella. As soon as we stepped out of the building, the thin rain grew into a full blown storm. I wanted to RUN to my class (I know the Mythbusters have proved that by running I will get as wet as if I was only walking - but hey, at least I'd be exposed to the rain for less time), but Luiz was holding his former umbrella in a very non-aerodynamic way. At one point I sped up and left him behind, but then I felt some pity and came back. :P We arrived at Spanish looking like crap. And there were people inside to laugh at us. :P At least the secretary was nice and made us some hot coffee (and apologised for not carrying a hair dryer in her purse! lol!).

I'm beginning to enjoy the wet routine.

Stalin? Nah. Lenin? Pffft. IT'S RAF!!!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, see these:

http://blog.wired.com/photos/uncategorized/150.jpg  (yes, this is the one that inspired Franz Ferdinand's second album cover)

This is my second attempt at this kind of art. The first attempt was when a friend asked me to make a version of himself shouting his name like the woman from Franz Ferdinand's second album cover. I got into this kind of stuff both because of Franz Ferdinand's posters, and because I find the whole soviet thing kinda interesting (even though I'm strictly against communism).

I wanna get experience, so, if you have any suggestions or requests (like a poster of yourself fashioned like that), feel free to contact me. ;)

Cheers!

Raf

Just about to leave home for THREE HOURS of Physics lessons.

How awesome. :'(

From now on, I'll have classes in the morning (7am to 12:10) from Monday to Friday, from 2 to 4 hours of classes in the afternoon, English (6pm to 7:30) on Tuesday and Thursday,  Spanish will have to be re-scheduled because of the afternoon classes, and my guitar classes will have to be scheduled too.

Not to mention extra and special lessons occasionally in the fucking evening and Saturday mornings and afternoons.

Plus gym every Saturday.

Now, quick question... When will I find the time to sit down at home and do all the homework (Portuguese Grammar, Portuguese Literature, English [school and private], Spanish [private], Math A, Math B, Biology A, Biology B, Chemistry A, Chemistry B, Physics A, Physics B, Physics C, History, Geography), play some guitar and have some fucking rest?

Patience, Raf, patience... This is only until November...

Argh, can't wait to finish school and be a consenting adult.

I'm not really mad or anything. I'm willing to take this year VERY seriously and try to do EVERY LITTLE THING correctly. I just wonder how to do that without having that cute little thing Hermione uses on HP3.

Bye.

Yup, finally, a guitar sample on my blog. This is very sloppy, but I don't think I'll manage to do better tonight. :-P At least it's audible.

TURN UP THE VOLUME. The mic was sort of far away from the amp.

This is a small file, so everyone can download, even the ones with slow connections.

PLEASE leave a comment telling your opinions, no matter if it's a good or a bad opinion. All opinions are welcome, as long as they're constructive. :)

Love,

P.S. Yes, the name is deliberately an attempt to annoy Matias.

Oh yes, I've just collected them at the shop, and from now on I gotta wear glasses whenever I'm planning to do intensive reading or spend too long using the PC (which means from Friday afternoon until Sunday night they'll be a very important part of my face :P ).

So, do I look nerdy or what?

"Hmm, sex..."

Damn, I'm well hungry, that bloody diet can be quite annoying (if you don't know what I'm on about, this thread should clarify things a bit: http://www.queenzone.com/queenzone/forumnew/forum_topic_view.aspx?Q=1077941 ), but I guess it'll be worth it. It's only a week anyway. ;) And then, while the other idiots are in the mud with rifles, I'll be happy at home playing Half-Life². xD Anorexia, here I go!

Love,

Raf

Whose discography to download first: AC/DC or Alice Cooper?

I like both artists and I'm unhappy with the tiny amount of songs I have of each of them.

I won't simply download them at the same time, or one right after the other because I want a couple of days to listen to at least MOST albums by the one I download first before I start downloading the next. In the past I used to download plenties and then not have enough time to enjoy my downloads. In December and January I listened for the first time to stuff I had downloaded in July... :\ xD

Many thanks in advance for the opinions! :)

Love,

Raf
P.S: Something tells me in advance that two girls named Jessica will leave a comment here, one talking about Alice Cooper for sure and the other one very likely talking about AC/DC. So I hope there will at least be a third person to undo the tie between the bands caused by Jessica and Jessica. ;)

Scatman(Scatting by Scatman John)
I'm the Scatman
(Scatting by Scatman John)
I'm the Scatman
(Scatting by Scatman John)
Everybody stutters one way or the other
So check out my message to you.
As a matter of fact don't let nothin' hold you back.
If the Scatman can do it so can you.
Everybody's sayin' that the Scatman stutters
But doesn't ever stutter when he sings.
But what you don't know I'm gonna tell you right now
That the stutter and the scat is the same thing.
Yo I'm the Scatman.
Where's the Scatman ? I'm the Scatman.
Why should we be pleasin' all the politician heathens
Who would try to change the seasons if they could?
The state of the condition insults my intuitions
And it only makes me crazy and my heart like wood.
Everybody stutters one way or the other
So check out my message to you.
As a matter of fact don't let nothin' hold you back.
If the Scatman can do it brother so can you.
I'm the Scatman.
(Scatting by Scatman John)
Everybody stutters one way or the other
So check out my message to you.
As a matter of fact don't let nothin' hold you back.
If the Scatman can do it brother so can you.
I'm the Scatman.
I hear you all ask 'bout the meaning of scat.
Well I'm the professor and all I can tell you is
While you're still sleepin' the saints are still weepin' cause
Things you call dead haven't yet had the chance to be born.
I'm the Scatman.
(Scatting by Scatman John)
I'm the Scatman....repeat after me
It's a scoobie oobie doobie scoobie doobie melody
I'm the Scatman....repeat after me
It's a scoobie oobie doobie scoobie doobie melody

Scatman

About Scatman John:

John Paul Larkin, (March 13, 1942 — December 3, 1999), better known as Scatman John (sometimes credited as John Scatman internationally), was a famous American stuttering jazz musician who created a unique fusion of scat singing and uplifting trance, best known for his 1994 hit "Scatman (Ski Ba Bop Ba Dop Bop)". As he liked to say, this was a process of "turning my biggest problem into my biggest asset." He received 14 golds and 18 platinums for his albums and singles. He was also named "Best New Artist" award in the Echo Awards in both Japan and Germany. He was a recipient of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Annie Glenn Award for outstanding service to the stuttering community and was inducted into the National Stuttering Association Hall of Fame. He died of lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles, California at the age of 57.

About scat singing:

In vocal jazz, scat singing is vocal improvisation with nonsense words and syllables or without words at all. Scat singing gives singers the ability to sing improvised melodies and rhythms, to create the equivalent of an instrumental solo using their voice.
